The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is a regional group of fifteen West African countries. Founded on 28 May 1975, with the signing of the Treaty of Lagos, its mission is to promote economic integration across the region. Considered one of the pillars of the African Economic Community, the organization was founded in order to achieve collective self-sufficiency for its member states by creating a single large trading bloc through an economic and trading union. It also serves as a peacekeeping force in the region. The organization operates officially in three co-equal languages French, English, and Portuguese. We are currently recruiting for the position below Job Title: Programme Officer Strategic Analysis Reference: ECW-COMM/REC/SMA-P/002/2012 Duty Station: Abuja, Nigeria Department: Office of the Vice-President Directorate: Strategic Planning Unit Grade: P3 Supervisor: Director, Strategic Planning Job Description The Strategic Planning Directorate was created to ensure that ECOWAS activities are all consistent with the ECOWAS Vision 2020, are set within priorities established in the ECOWAS Strategic Plan and are set out in a coherent multi-year medium term programme of activities. ECOWAS is working with its Development Partner to develop an integrated Strategic Planning system. The Programme Officer, Strategic Analysis, is at the heart of operations of the directorate. The job holder will carry out tasks in the section he/she assigned to work within the three units of the directorate.
