The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is a regional group of fifteen West African countries. Founded on 28 May 1975, with the signing of the Treaty of Lagos, its mission is to promote economic integration across the region. Considered one of the pillars of the African Economic Community, the organization was founded in order to achieve collective self-sufficiency for its member states by creating a single large trading bloc through an economic and trading union. The specific objectives of the programme are to ensure the implementation of Community telecommunication programme at national and regional levels by creating increased awareness of Community Telecommunications and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) issues, policies and strategies under the supervision of the Principal Programme Officer, Telecommunication. Duties and Responsibilities Assists in the implementation of the regional broadband infrastructure network including the second Community telecommunications infrastructure programme known as Intelcom II Programme and other related infrastructure programmes. Promotes development, expansion and operation of telecommunication/ICT networks and services/applications.
