The U.S. Embassy in Abuja is seeking to employ suitable and qualified candidates for the positions of Generator Technician in the Facilities Maintenance Section. Position Title: Generator Technician – FSN-07/FP-07 Location: Abuja Basic Function of the Position: Incumbent undertakes installation, repair, and maintenance of U.S. Embassy Abuja owned electrical power generating equipment of up to 1000KVA both in residential and non-residential locations with their associated transfer switch gears of up to 400Amps capacity. Position Requirements: NOTE: All applicants MUST address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each criterion or the application will not be considered. Completion of Secondary school is required. Technical and vocational training certificates are required. Minimum of three (3) years progressive work experience in generator maintenance, installation and repairs is required. Level III (Good working knowledge) Speaking/Writing in English is required. Thorough knowledge of diesel engines, electric power generating equipment, transfer switches and various electrical equipment operational principles is required. Knowledge of basic safety practices and tools required for generators and electrical equipment maintenance is required. Must have good analytical skills in troubleshooting and diagnostics, especially as related to power generating equipment, electrical panels and switchgears. Selection Process When fully qualified, U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and U.S. Veterans are given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application. Additional Selection Criteria Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply. Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
